Luminosity opened on October 13th, 2009 with the goals to “promote, support and spread the love of underrateds.” The meaning behind Luminosity is “the quality of being inspired” (what and/or which underrated artists have inspired you to want to support them or simply, what inspires you?). The other meaning is “the brightness of a star in comparison with a sun; The brightness of that star or those stars can be just as bright as the sun itself or maybe, maybe even many more times brighter. “ (In this case, the more well known artists is the sun while all the underrateds are the stars…they can shine even brighter if we all give them a chance to)
What is considered an underrated artist?
To describe an underrated artist is very complex. Because so many people have so many definitions of what an underrated should be, it’s hard to explain. In my opinion, an underrated artist is not an idol artist; they can be artists who received their “15 minutes of fame” or, they probably didn’t make it that far. Underrated artists are the ones listed and not listed in this blog. They don’t necessarily have to be completely underrated (as I’m unsure where they would stand in their native country) however, as an international fan, it’s quite obvious if one is underrated or not.
Underrated artists are artists people most likely will forget about. They are the artists we should be giving the most attention to. But if you would like to put an underrated in simple terms, underrateds are ones who are “undervalued, failed to appreciate, think little of and underestimate.”
When one “labels” an artist with a term, like underrated, it is not meant in a bad way. Actually, to be underrated is perfect, at least for this cause.
Though this is a slowly growing blog (and cause), we all hope that you would open your eyes, ears and hearts out to the many underrated artists of the music industry.
